The Ridgeview School District has been working with Heartland Community Education to arrange community workshops at Ridgeview Schools. We have successfully scheduled 2 ceramic classes for this spring. Please see below information. Contact me with any questions or suggestions for other art workshops.
Hand Building with Clay ARTCRAFT 1661, Course Code: 3127 Build your own ceramic creation from scratch. Hand building is one of the oldest techniques for working with ceramics. You will explore the methods of slab rolling and use it to create a three footed coffee mug with a handle. In the first session we will construct the body. In the second session we will create a comfortable handle for our mug and in the final session we will glaze our mugs and send you home with your very own hand-made creation. |

Wheel Thrown Ceramics
ARTCRAFT 1662, Course Code: 3129 Jump behind the potter's wheel! Wheel throwing is a process that many potters use to mass produce functional ceramics. In this course you will see this process and learn how to make a bowl. In the first session you will learn how to center, open, and pull a piece of clay into a bowl. In the second session you will try a technique called trimming to clean your hand thrown pottery. The final session three weeks later will allow our clay to dry and be fired once so that it will be ready for us to glaze! You'll go home with a one-of-a-kind piece of art. |
