Ceramic Vessels
In the next unit, students are going to explore ancient ceramic vessels and create a vessel of their own that reflects contemporary culture. The slide show below has 5 dynamic vessels from around. Students will speculate where and when the vessels were made and what functions they may have had. Students will then reflect on their assumptions and support their statements with visual evidence.
After constructing their vessels, students are going to design magazine covers using Adobe Illustrator. . Students will write a short paragraph describing how archaeologists in the future will distinguish their vessel and determine its origin. Check out this link for some of the latest archaeological discoveries. Here is an article that outlines the different types of archaeologists. Students will use these files as examples...

Students can make a story that takes in real life, present day, or an imaginary world. Consider where your story takes place, who the main character(s) are, and what happens. The following video can help you plan your story.
